Spring begins with the holidays. In the second week of spring, we celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th. So what is the reason we celebrate Mothers and Women’s Day? Why are women so glorified? Do women all over the world celebrate on the same day? Let’s take a look at history to find answers to these questions.According to reports, “woman” is an Arabic word related to the word “family”. However, in relation to March 8, the word “women” is widely used, not the word “woman”.If we look at the past of this day, we can see that Women’s Day comes from the day they fought for their rights. That is, on March 8, 1857, women workers at a shoe and sewing factory in New York held a demonstration. They demand a 10-hour workday, bright and dry workrooms, and the same pay as men. On the same day, hundreds of women in New York rallied to demand their right to vote. Because at that time, very low-paid women worked 16 hours a day. The men, on the other hand, gained a 10-hour workday through various performances. Following the same event on March 8, a women’s organization will be formed and women will join it for the first time. However, this day was first celebrated on March 19, 1891 as a women’s holiday in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Then more than a million men and women will take part in the demonstrations. In addition to the right to vote and to be elected, women strive to be equal to men.At an international conference in Copenhagen in 1910, a proposal was made to celebrate March 8 as International Women’s Day. After that, women in many countries will become more active in society. They fight for the right to work and respect, the fight against poverty, and the struggle for peace.In Russia, International Women’s Day was first celebrated in 1913 in St. Petersburg. An application was made to the Russian Duma on the issue of women, and on March 2, 1913, members of the government gathered one and a half thousand people and allowed the issue to be resolved. It addressed issues of women’s suffrage, state support and protection of motherhood.March 8, International Women’s Day, has been a public holiday since 1965. On this day, the government reported at ceremonies on the work being done by the state policy towards women. Gradually, International Women’s Day began to be celebrated not as a day when women demanded their rights, but as a day to honor, respect and honor them.March 8 – International Women’s Day CIS, after the collapse of the former Soviet Union Celebrations have also begun in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Belarus and Uzbekistan.Turkey also celebrates International Women’s Day on March 8, ahead of a number of other countries. In 1921, two years before the proclamation of the Republic, March 8 began to be celebrated as the Day of Working Women. However, since 1975, this holiday has been widely celebrated throughout the country. Since the 1990s, the number of women’s societies has increased.
