As previously reported, the first meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan is taking place after the elections.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addresses the event.
The Head of the state congratulated deputies on their high honor: our people, having shown great confidence, elected them deputies of the Legislative Chamber.
“The parliamentary elections and the local Councils became an important political exam for Uzbekistan, and our people proved themselves worthy in this process”, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President noted with satisfaction that 9 youth representatives, 48 women were elected to the lower house of the new parliament.
It was emphasized that the past elections, contributing to the growth of political activity of the population, not only increased the confidence of people in the parties, but also strengthened the requirements for them.
“During the pre-election campaign, political parties made many promises to solve the pressing problems of our society. Now our people are waiting for their implementation. You must be deeply aware of this, always think about the voter”, the President said.
Confidence was expressed that the factions of political parties in the lower house of parliament will determine for themselves specific plans and will implement them in full.
The Head of the state noted that during the election campaign some shortcomings were made and noted the need for further improvement of the organizational and legal foundations of the national electoral system.
The meeting is being attended by members of the government, heads of central agencies, media representatives.
