Scientific Council of Tashkent Medical Academy


The Scientific Council of the Tashkent Medical Academy (hereinafter referred to as the Scientific Council) is organized on the basis of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 19, 2005 No. UP-3629 “On the establishment of the Tashkent Medical Academy” and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of July 19, 2005. The Scientific Council is organized in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Education” and “On the National Program for Personnel Training” and the Regulation “On Higher Education”. The TMA Academic Council is the pivotal body in the implementation of the main task – the training of specialists and scientists in the field of medicine. The Academic Council makes important decisions on general management, and also solves issues related to education, research, medical, spiritual, educational and other activities. The Chairman of the Academic Council is Rector Professor Tuychiev Laziz Nadirovich. Members of the Academic Council are: rector, vice-rector, scientific secretary, deans of faculties, directors of the Urgench, Ferghana and Termez branches of the Academy, department heads, department heads, leading scientists and specialists of the Academy, as well as heads of medical centers and public organizations.

According to the Regulation on the Academic Council, approved by the rector of the academy of February 27, 2019, the Academic Council carries out the following activities:

  • Studying and making decisions on the rigorous implementation of state educational standards, curricula in accordance with the National Training Program, as well as giving recommendations and identifying tasks on priority issues;
  • hears reports and makes appropriate decisions on the educational, research and spiritual and educational work of faculties, the activities of the academic lyceum, scientific societies, the results of the work of the selection committee, as well as reports of the marketing service on the needs of the national economy in graduates, on relationships with customers-consumers ;
  • discusses the implementation of plans for research, spiritual and educational work, training and retraining of faculty, as well as makes appropriate decisions;
  • approves annual and long-term plans for the development of the Academy, discusses the results of material and technical support and financial and economic activities and makes appropriate decisions;
  • makes decisions on the opening, termination, change of faculties and departments, as well as on the establishment or termination of training in new specialties of undergraduate and graduate studies, taking into account marketing services;
  • holds contests for professorships in accordance with the Regulation on the Procedure for the Competitive Recruitment of Teachers in Higher Education Institutions;
  • considers documents of applicants applying for the academic title of professor and associate professor, and submits them for approval in the prescribed manner;
  • discusses and defines measures to ensure a sufficient level of knowledge of foreign languages, computer technology and the Internet by faculty and graduates;
  • discusses the issues of providing the educational process with educational literature, the development and publication of textbooks and teaching aids of a new generation, as well as educational and methodical complexes based on the use of innovative educational technologies;
  • recommends candidates for doctoral studies (DSc), basic doctoral studies (PhD) and independent applicants for research institutes, approves their individual plans and topics for dissertations;
  • recommends candidates from among talented students and teachers for internships in foreign higher educational institutions at the expense of the Istedod and El-Yurt Umidi funds;
  • recommends candidates from among talented students, doctoral students (DSc), basic doctoral students (PhD) and independent researchers of the Academy for participation in competitions of the state scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and state scholarships;
  • Recommends candidates for academicians of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, honorary titles “Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “Honored Doctor of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, state and other awards;
  • Makes the decision to confer the title of “Honorary Professor”, “Honorary Doctor” of the Tashkent Medical Academy to scientists of our country and foreign countries working in the field of medicine;
  • Develops measures to improve the physical education of students and improve their health in cooperation with the Soglom Avlod Uchun Foundation;
  • discusses issues of developing corporate cooperation with major consumer organizations, enterprises and institutions, strengthening the material and technical base and increasing the effectiveness of students’ qualification practices and makes recommendations for their improvement;
